Prep Drama Costumes

On Friday 31st May (Week 7) the prep students will be performing during our Drama Festival finals.  This is a non-competitive section, where prep students will perform as a group. For this performance, we ask for your assistance in bringing in a simple costume for your child to wear.  All items should be labelled and brought to school in a clearly named bag by the end of Week 6, Friday 24th May. Please drop to your child's classroom.

TOPAZ - 'Summer beach clothes' eg. board shorts, rashie, sun hat.  Something that they are comfortable wearing on stage and won't be too cold in!

GARNET - Winter accessories eg. beanie, scarf, mittens.

JADE - A plain, green shirt.

Keep an eye out for more information regarding running times on the day. Thank you for your assistance and please let me know if you have any further queries.

Drama Performances Begin Week 2

A friendly reminder that students in years 1-6 will begin performing their poems next week.

Tuesday lessons (Year 3 & 4) will begin performing in Week 2, 23rd April.

Thursday lessons (Year 1, 2, 5 & 6) will begin performing in Week 3, 2nd May (Due to ANZAC day). Please note 6L will have a lesson on Tuesday 30th April and should be ready to perform on this day.

We have been working on these pieces for several weeks now and the in-class performances form a major part of students’ drama assessment.  These will also lead into our Drama Festival competition.

Semi finals will occur in Week 6, with the finals being held in Week 7 on Friday 31st May.  The preps will perform on this day, along with all our finalists.

Keep an eye out for more information.  We are looking forward to celebrating our budding performers!

Drama

A friendly reminder for all year 1-6 students to continue to learn and rehearse their drama piece over the holidays.  Due to several special events happening next week, there are quite a few classes who will miss their drama lesson in week 10. Most classes will only have one lesson next term, before needing to be ready to perform in class.  Performances will begin in Week 2, Term 2!

Drama Festival

Preparation for this year’s Drama Festival is underway! The Drama Festival is an annual, whole school event which is a culmination of class work where children from P-6 are given the opportunity to develop their performance skills through poems and speaking pieces.

Prep students will perform in a group as part of the finals showcase of the Drama Festival competition on Friday 31st May.

Year 1-6 students have been working on various pieces in drama lessons over the past few weeks. There are a variety of pieces to choose from for each year level and students are to choose one piece to perform in front of the class. This forms a major part of their drama assessment, and also leads into our Drama Festival competition.  Students should be prepared to perform their piece at the beginning of Term 2.

A hard copy has been sent home with students.  Please put this in a safe place and encourage the ongoing learning of these pieces at home.

I hope you enjoy listening to your child recite their chosen piece over the coming weeks.  Thanks for your assistance and I wish your child all the best!

Preparation for this year’s Drama Festival is underway! The Drama Festival is an annual, whole school event which is a culmination of class work where children from P-6 are given the opportunity to develop their performance skills through poems and speaking pieces.

All Year 1-6 classes have been busy learning their pieces in our weekly drama lessons.  It is wonderful to see such enthusiasm from the students and eagerness to share their dramatic flair!

Students will continue to practice in class only and copies of poems will be made available for students to learn at home later in the term.

All performances will take place during lesson time at the beginning of Term 2.  More information will be provided before the holidays.

Instrumental Music Showcase

On Friday 1st of September all students enrolled in our Instrumental Music Program performed as part of the annual Instrumental Music Showcase. This year our event was held at St. Mary’s Edmund Rice Cultural Centre. With over a hundred performers our student musicians entertained their families, friends and peers with songs that they had been practising over the last few months. Students are to be commended on their performances and for being confident on such a big stage with lights, smoke and cameras! Thank you to our helpers Mrs. Holzheimer, Mrs. Gregory and Mrs. Doherty for helping supervise and manage the running of the event. Thank you to Mrs. Jenkins for creating our beautiful programs. All tutors volunteered their time to support their students and we are most grateful for this. Many thanks also to Sue Fitzpatrick and her helpers in the P&F for preparing and serving us food & drink on the night. We look forward to next years Showcase which will be held in Term 3, 2024.
