Instrumental Music 2025 continuing students

Enrolments for our Instrumental Music Program 2025 for continuing students are now open. This online link will be sent to your email over the weekend. Current families will be prioritised when submitted before 5pm Thursday 28th November. A new form will then be made available to the wider school for all new students to the program and will be filled on a first in first served basis. Continuing students will no longer be given priority after the above cut off day/time.

Some changes have been made to the music program and therefore it is important that you carefully read the enrolment before submitting. Questions regarding enrolment can be sent to ebony.rosier@twb.catholic.edu.au

Helpers Needed!

We are in desperate need of a team of people to assist with sourcing and making props, sets, costumes etc for our upcoming musical, Kids in Space.  You will be given direction from our Drama and Music teachers, along with support through our PEN.  Our teachers are working around the clock with singing, choreography, casting, staging etc and they really need some assistance with making the other parts of the show come to life.  This is a community event where we need the efforts of many hands.  Please consider how you may be able to assist and help create another outstanding Mater Dei musical! Send your email outlining how you can help to Amanda.Holzheimer@twb.catholic.edu.au and Ebony.Rosier@twb.catholic.edu.au

2024 is a musical year at Mater Dei and we are pleased to announce 'Kids in Space' as our performance this year! All Year 5 and 6 students will be involved in the production and we will work on this during our Drama and Music lessons each week. There are a small number of main characters, and we welcome any interested year 5 and 6 students to audition.  Audition scripts and more information will be available to students next week.  Rehearsals for main characters will be done outside of lesson time. We will hold auditions in Week 1 of Term 3.  Please keep an eye out for more information regarding our upcoming musical. Until then, we ask everyone to please lock in Thursday 24th October to come and see our stars on the stage!

Sing Out 2024

This year we took our year 5 students to SING OUT - a non-competitive Choral Festival for upper primary school students involving approximately 1500 students over three days from the Darling Downs region. The day started with choral workshops lead by renown choral clinician Mrs. Jenny Moon at the Empire Theatre. Mrs. Moon engaged students in vocal warm ups and helped us polish songs that we had started in class.  Hours later, the students returned to the theatre that night to sing their hearts out. Our year 5's sung "Swinging On A Star"  then formed part of the massed choir (500 students from other schools) for parents and the wider Toowoomba community to enjoy. Thank you Mater Dei for providing this wonderful opportunity for us to be involved in something so grand - making music with hundreds of other kids! Thank you Mrs. Holzheimer, Mrs. Pritchard & Mrs. Doherty for your help and support on the night.

We look forward to Sing Out in 2026!
